Walking along a moonlit beach
On a warm summers night.
Notice how easily your feet
Slide into the warm sand
Feeling how the sand
Moves between your toes
How your body simply
Sinks
Down a little bit
With each step
Noticing the sounds of the waves
As you slowly get closer to the waters edge
The waves rolling onto the sand
Bubbling up in a surf
As they crash into the beach
And slide back out into the ocean
Leaving the foamy surf to pop slowly
The water is warm
But refreshing.
And the feeling of the waves washing over your feet
Is soothing,
And relaxing
As the sand starts to become a little firmer
Supporting your weight.
You can’t help but take a deep
Slow breath
And breathe in the moist coastal air
The scent of the water
And feeling of the cool breeze on your skin
Is so relaxing
So soothing.
But as you stare out
Seeing the waves lit by the light of a full moon
You can’t help but feel as if
There is something mysterious
About this beach.
Something unusual and special
Local legend says that there is a creature
That lives near this beach.
Many have looked for the creature
But it is said that only those that it chooses
Will be able to find it.
You laugh it off of local legend
A simple myth
To stir up some tourists.
But yet you can’t help but notice a strange
Feeling, in your body
The hairs on the back of your neck
Standing up .
You feel as if…
You are being watched.
Out pure habit,
You scan the shore line,
Noticing several large rocks out in the water
Jutting up from the sea
A light house
In the far distance
It’s light slowly turning in the clear night
Illuminating the water for miles around
Nothing stands out to you.
Just the waves.
And the soft sounds of the wind
It is then that you realize that there is
Another sound
Hidden in the waves, and the wind
Something very other worldly
Melodic, but strange, almost ethereal
Your not sure if it’s coming from the waves
Or the wind
Not sure which direction it is being
Carried your way from
But the more you listen
The more you start to hear this magical song
You start to scan the shore line again
But you see nothing.
Your unaware, however
That you have started to walk
Slowly down the beach
Step by step just seems to fade into your mind
As the song becomes louder
And clearer
As it starts to simply
Form in your mind
Tugging at your thoughts
Coiling around your mind without you even realizing it
It’s pull is irresistible.
You don’t even notice that you are walking
Slowly
Gently
Further into the surf
Step by step leading out into the water
Finding that your now standing in ankle deep water
And walking, slowly

With each and every step
That you find yourself taking now
It isn’t until the waves
Splash up along your chest
That you realize that you are already in
Waist deep water
For a split second
The spell is broken
And you are able to look around
Able to realize where you are
The song still echoing in your ears

But then you see it.
Sitting on one of the larger rock formations
Outlined by the light of the moon

You can’t make out their features
Only that they appear to be
From the shadow
Quite physically fit
Very attractive.
The song in your ears starts to get a bit louder
A bit stronger
As the shadowy figure moves their hand
And beacons you to join them
The realization of what you are doing
Seems to fade away
As you take in a deep breath
And dive into the water
Swimming against the waves
Following the call
The song seems to get stronger
And deeper
The closer you get
The pull is so powerful
You’ve never felt a need like this before
You simply can’t deny it
You must… follow the song
As you swim you get a glimpse from time to time
Of the person on the rocks
Their features hidden in shadow
But you can see them extending their arm
Holding out their hand
As if asking you
Begging you
To take their hand
To join them.
The realization of this

Until you finally reach the base of the rock formation

Is actually quite soft

You reach out to touch the person
But before you can they turn to look at you
And you can’t help but gasp in surprise

But never the less you feel as if
