Recently uncovered.
Buried for centuries…
A millennia under the sand
And now for the first time
It’s been brought
Back to the surface.
For the first time
In thousands of years
People can enter the pyramid
And explore.
Because that always goes…
So well…
But you, you are brave
And not scared in the slightest
You decide that one night
Your going to go exploring
All by yourself
Something else that always goes well.
Since there is no day light inside a pyramid
It makes no difference what time of day
You decide to explore.
So you take your flashlight
And crawl into the tiny little opening
And find yourself in a long
Dark hallway.
Lined with almost
Impossibly large stone bricks
Carefully placed
The architecture is always been
Impressive
Your foot steps echo
Down the long
Deep hallway
And you shine the light
Down the hallway
But never really see the end
Step by step
You sink deeper
And deeper
Into the pyramid
You’re not sure how long you walk
Not sure how deep you are.
But then you come across
A room
Connected to the hallway.
It was so well hidden
That you didn’t really see the entrance
Until you were right next to it.
Inside it’s filled with gold
And pottery.
Jewels
And treasures from a forgotten time.
And most important of all
Is a sarcophagus…
A large casket like structure
To hold a mummy.
It’s in perfect condition.
Not even a layer of dust
You can’t help but run your hands
Along the hieroglyphs on its sides
It’s an amazing find
And you are the first person
In thousands of years
To even see it.
But then you notice
That the lid
Isn’t exactly on right
It’s opened
You shine the light inside and see
That it’s completely empty
Curious you push it open a bit more
And then you hear it
Echos
Foot steps
Slow but confident
Strong and steady
You turn the light to the entrance
Thinking you will see
One of your fellow explorers.
But instead you see
The former occupant
Of the sarcophagus
Wrapped in bandages
The only thing you can see
Is their eyes
Piecing into your soul
Your mind seems to freeze
Your body feels like it’s on pause
Maybe fear…
Maybe something else entirely…
The mummy slowly moves
Closer to you
Your breathing is
Surprisingly steady
As you focus on their eyes
You almost hear what sounds
Like a laugh
And the mummy waves its hand
In your direction.
You hear the sarcophagus behind you
Creak open
As several old
Tattered rags fly out
And wrap around your wrists
Around your legs
Startling you out of your trance
You try to struggle
Try to fight
But the binds are pulling you back
Back towards the sarcophagus
Tugging with all your might
But every time you start to slow the pull
Another wrap flies out
Seemingly out of no where
And wraps around another part of your body
Struggling and pulling
You turn to try and pull away
Only to come face to face
With the mummy.
Their eyes bore deep into your soul
And you are left helpless
Staring into their eyes.
They raise their hand
Wrapped in bandages
And touch your forehead…
And all at once
You feel your mind just turn
Off…
You feel yourself sigh
As all the tension in your body
Relaxes.
The wraps easily pull you back
Back into the sarcophagus
You land inside of it
As more and more binds
Wrap around your body
Tightly
Deeply
Every inch of you slowly being wrapped
Squeezing you
You start to wiggle
Almost instinctively
But the more you do
The tighter the binds become
You try to call out for help
But the wrappings quickly bind your jaw
And cover your mouth
Preventing your scream
You catch a glimpse of the mummy
Staring at you once more
And feel your body go limp
Focused on their eyes
As the wraps tighten
All around you
The lid starts to close
And a final wrap
Covers your eyes…
Helpless
And sealed…
As a magical energy
Starts to flow through your body…
