Dealing with Fears

Before I begin I want to say that this video is designed to help you deal with fears, not phobias. If you have a phobia, which is defined as “an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something” or if your fear hinders your daily life then please see an actual doctor so you can get the help that you need!

Just allow yourself to relax,
And let your body sink into a comfortable position
A position where you don’t mind just relaxing
Here,
For a while.
Allow your eyes to watch the spiral
And slowly become heavy
And relaxed
As you feel your body starting to sink
And let go.
Feeling the muscles loosening.
And relaxing
Drifting away more and more.
As you let my words gently
And easily
Slide into your mind
The more you listen
The more your body just starts to sink
And relax.
You can feel your eyes getting heavier and heavier.
And sinking down .
Deeper and deeper
Maybe they have already closed.
Maybe they will stay just a crack open
Watching the spiral the whole way through.
Whatever is more comfortable for you…
Here…  now.
And as you let your mind and body relax
And sink deeper and deeper
Into my words
In the soft gentle hum in your mind.
I want you to imagine yourself
In a stage theater
Sitting way up in the back row
Looking down at the stage
From here you are completely safe
Completely separated from what is on stage
You can imagine people that you trust,
Being next to you.
People that can help you to relax
And be calm
And just let yourself get comfortable with being here
In the back row
Far away from the stage
Along and confident.
Or surrounded by those people in your life
Who help you,
To be the best you can be.
And who support you
And help to protect you.
And on stage
I want you to see the curtain open
And see your fear on stage.
If it is something tangible,
Something that you can touch
That scares you, you can see that item
That thing on stage.
If it is something of an idea.
Like a fear of heights.
See something instead,
That represents that fear
It can be an image
Or a feeling
A color or shape.
Whatever it is that you feel when you think of this fear.
And just remember
That you are safe,
In the back
And that at any time,
You can easily just close the curtains
In your mind.
You can always put the video on pause
And remain deeply hypnotized
And just relax for a few minutes
Until you feel comfortable to press play
And open the curtain again.
And you can even take a break for the whole day if you need
Able to simply put the video on pause if you need too
And take a few deep breaths and open your eyes
It’s ok if this takes time.
You don’t have to beat this in a day.
If you are ready to continue…
I want you to just look at that fear on stage
Allow yourself to see every aspect of it.
Every detail.
It may be scary at first
But as you look at it.
As you notice more and more about this fear
You will also start to discover, it’s weaknesses.
It’s fears…
I bet you’ve never really thought of it that way…
That something that could be scary to you…
Could have a fear of it’s own.
That it could have something that makes it afraid.
Something that makes it weak.
If it’s something tangible, something you can touch.
Then it can always be hurt itself,
It can be destroyed.
The scariest spider in the world,
Is terrified of something as simple as a shoe.
No matter how big the spider gets…
There is always a big shoe,
That it lives in terror of.
But maybe your fear is an idea…
Like my fear is heights.
Thats an idea,
What would a fear of heights… be afraid of…
Would it be afraid of the ground?
Or a parachute?
Would it rendered completely helpless
And terrified, by the simple thought.
Of a hang glider
Defying it’s power…
Completely
So just take a few minutes
And look at your fear
And see if you can think of what might make
That fear…. Afraid.
What would it be scared of.
And the more you think of…
The more that fear starts to get smaller
And weaker on stage.
You start to notice just how much more confident
You start to feel.
Knowing that it is afraid…
Watch as your fear starts to lose it’s own strength
How it starts to cower
As the things that it is afraid of start to surround it on stage
And watch your fear become weaker
And smaller
You can actually see it starting to shrink
Starting to get smaller
And more and more fragile
And scarred
You may actually start to feel pity for it.
Or not,  it’s up to you… and how you feel.
If your ready…
You can start to move closer and closer to the stage.
You can more one row at a time.
Or you can simply walk to the stage
It’s all up to you…
And it can take as long s you’d like…
If there are people with you, they can come with you.
Moving closer to the fear
The fear that is itself terrified on stage
You don’t have to move today…
You don’t have to move until your ready
And honestly you don’t have to move at all.
Just watch the fear become smaller
And weaker
See it losing it’s power
And feel how much better
How much calmer you feel now.
It’s ok if you want to just sit here and relax…
But when you are ready…
When you are comfortable
You can walk to the stage…
And put your fear in a container
Sealing it up tight…
Keeping it secure…
And then you can hand that container to someone
Or something you trust.
And have that person or thing in your mind
Take it far away from you
Where you no longer have to deal with it.
Where it is safely kept and stored.
You’ll remember the lessons the fear taught you
How to deal with fear and anxiety
And how it felt… so you can empathize with others.
But the fears power will be gone.
It’s ok if you don't’ feel comfortable doing that now.
It can take time to reach that point…
But when you have dealt with the fear long enough
You can let the curtains close
And simply relax in the theater
Safe and calm.
You can even see the theater fading away from you.
Completely and totally being replaced
With someplace special
Someplace safe.
Someplace that you know
Someplace that relaxes you
It’s ok if you have friends here with you
Real or imaginary
Or if you simply want to relax
And let go all alone.
By yourself for a while.
But just focus on the parts of being here,
That re-energize you.
And feel that energy moving into your body.
Feel how much more relaxed
And calm you start to feel
How strong and confident you feel yourself becoming.
You know… that no matter how far you got today…
You faced your fear…
Even if it was only for a few seconds…
You faced it.
And that gives you power
That gives you strength.
A strength
And confidence
That will build more and more
Upon itself.
The more you face your fear…
The more you face… any fear.
Just let yourself smile
And relax
As you realize just how well you did today
And that no matter how much or how little
You may have done.
You came away stronger then before.
More confident.
You feel…
And with each fear that you face
Big or small
That confidence will grow.
And the skills you need to concur every fear.
One after another…
Will build inside of you
And just feel the now
In your body
In your mind
As you relax in this peaceful place.
This place you can always return too whenever you need
And just relax
And unwind. For as long as you’d like..
And in a few minutes, when your ready…
Simply allow this world to fade away,
Slowly and easily
And return to the real world.
And wake up…
Carrying your new found confidence with you.
But until then just relax,
And rest…
Here for a while…
And let your confidence grow
And let your mind and body
Relax…
Now…
