You are in a dense forest...
someplace hot... and humid
it's not very comfortable
but that is the point.
there is something exhilarating about...
perspiring
heavily...
you've been walking for hours.
looking for something very
very specific...
something lost
something ancient.
and now that the ground beneath you
has turned from dirt
into ancient carved stone
you've finally found it.
a lost ruins.
it had been rumored in legends
and myths
for centuries
but no one had really ever seen it
before now...
you are the first...
but you know this is just..
the surface level.
it doesn't take you long to discover
a stairway leading down
into the main chamber.
as you descend
step by step
down the stairs.
deeper and deeper
into the ruins.
the air becomes much cooler.
the humid air of the jungle above
condens4es into a light fog
and coats everything with a soft layer
of moisture.
it's much nice here...
much cooler. more peaceful.
you make your way down further into the ruins
and discover a pool of crystal clear water.
it's deep, and doesn't appear to be carved
it's a natural pool. with algae inside
that is making the bottom and sides
glow with an eerie light.
enough to illuminate the room around you
but not enough to remove the shadows that seem to be
closing in on you.
as you step closer
and closer
you swear you see something
something large
move in the mist.
as if it were retreating from you.
by the time you get out your flashlight
whatever it was...
if it even was anything.
anything at all..
is gone.
you tell yourself that it was
nothing...
shadows playing across your mind
but yet you can't help but feel...
like you are being watched.
you slowly make your way around the pool
shining the light into all the dark places
and then you spot something.
something thick and large
laying on the ground
it resembles a snakes tail.
but it's massive
the sight makes you freeze
makes you stop in your tracks
for just a moment
as you slowly shine your light
along the snakes body
further and further
along.
until it goes into a dark alcove
the fog is so thick
that your light doesn't even make it past
doesn't light the alcove
but as you shine your light across it
a pair of eyes glow in the darkness.
You back up with a gasp
and the eyes seem to vanish.
You look around and see the large tail
slither along the ground
dipping just the tip
into the water of the natural pool
in the center...
and starting to move
slowly
gently along the water
the ripples start to break
the still waters surface
as the pool starts to reflect
and refract the light
from the glowing algae below
it's soothing. and engrossing
the patterns of the light just
reflecting and sparkling off the water
as the tip of the snakes tail
pulls out of the pool
leaving the water to ripple
and refract
the colors from refraction of the pool
light up the entire chamber
in a rainbow display of splashes
of color.
It's so soothing...
So calming...
so easy to just relax
and watch the water...
keep watching
as it ripples and splashes
slow and steady
each new ripple
each new sparkle
is unique
and special
it exists only for a moment...
and the nit's gone...
and it's here just for you
just for you to see
for you to observe...
let it in to your mind
let everything else relax
as you simply watch the pool
rippling
slowly...
gently...
easily...
as your body
and mind
simply relax...
You barely realize that the words
that you are hearing...
are actually coming not from your thoughts
but are being whispered...
slowly...
gently...
into your ear...
from someone...
or something...
behind you...
